Sensory Direct's deep pressure vest for autism applies compression and deep pressure to the wearer, offering proprioceptive feedback to the body and shoulders.

This version  of the compression vest comes with 2 weights which can be attached to the shoulder straps or around the body to add additional sensory feedback.  The weights are removable allowing the vest to be worn with or without weight.

  • The Small vest comes with 2 weights each weighing 450g (900g in total)
  • The Medium vest comes with 2 weights each weight 600g(1.2kg in total)
  • The Large vest cames with 2 weights each weight 750g (1.5kg in total)

We recommend that you consult you Occupational Therapist or ohter healthcare professional prior to use to assess the suitability of this product.

Not recommended for those with breathing difficulties.

  • The results were unbelievable!

    "The school had already purchased a weighted waistcoat for my son as advised by the OT, the results were unbelievable - used when he has 1:1 reading his concentration has improved and in turn he reads better and for longer. Therefore, I have purchased this one to use at home when reading/writing etc. There are cheaper alternatives on the market but unsure myself whether the different weight distribution would affect its effectiveness I wasn't prepared to take a chance. He has sensory issues and thankfully he likes fleece so he likes wearing it - other things we have tried in general he has rejected either because of texture or not wanting to be different to his peers, as the appearance is similar to "normal" clothing he has no issues.  It is definitely a hit!"

    The vest applies deep pressure to the body by the tight wrapping of the vest around the body.  Challenging and sensory seeking behaviours are often reduced with the application of deep pressure. Anxiety and distress can be reduced by lowering the heart rate, calming breathing, in turn promoting a feeling of security.

    The weights can also be attached around the body in any posistion to suit the wearer.

    Some autistic children and adults enjoy tight clothing or wrapping themselves up in sheets or a gym mat to give them the pressure they crave - the compression vest works on the same principle and benefits those with tactile and proprioceptive sensory problems.

    Additional weights are also available.

    Measurements :

    • SMALL -  bodywrap 60cm x 20cm, shoulder straps 35cm (ages 3-7 approx)
    • MEDIUM - bodywrap 81cm x 25cm, shoulder straps 40cm (ages 7 -14 approx)
    • LARGE - bodywrap 103cm x 28cm, shoulder straps 51cm (older children, teens and adults)

    CHRISTMAS RETURNS POLICY

    We want to give our customers peace of mind that all eligible products purchased between 1st November 2024 and 25th December 2024 can be returned or exchanged until 31st January 2025.

    Customers simply need to return the product(s) in their original re-sellable condition together with the completed Returns Form.

    Please note this excludes reporting missing or damaged products which must be reported within 3 working days, so please ensure you open and check your order when it arrives.

     

    DELIVERY

    Products that are in stock and ordered before 2pm, Monday to Friday, will be despatched on the same working day. 

    Sensory Direct's Weighted Blankets, Weighted Jackets, Shoulder Wraps, Lap Pads and other handmade products may take 3-5 working days to be despatched if not in stock. We will endeavour to contact customers whose orders may be affected by any despatch delays.

    • Delivery is FREE for online orders of £45 and above within Mainland UK (excluding Highlands, Offshore Islands and Northern Ireland).
    • Mainland UK delivery charges are £3.95 Royal Mail and £5.95 for Courier delivery for orders under £45. (See FAQs for Courier Estimated Delivery Times).
    • Small products are sent by Royal Mail. Larger products are sent by Courier for Mainland UK next day delivery. For smaller products that are in stock and ordered before 2pm, you can now select and pay for Mainland UK next day delivery at the checkout stage.
    • Some larger products may be delivered directly from the manufacturer. 
    • Please note we cannot deliver to a PO Box address.
    • We are currently unable to ship outside of the UK unless you hold a trade account with us.

    RETURNS

    We want you to be 100% happy with your purchase, but if you find that the product is not suitable you must return the product to us within 30 days of receipt for a refund or exchange of the same or similar. There are some exemptions to this, please view the Returns page for further information regarding Sensory Direct's Weighted Blankets.

    Returns of sale products must be within 14 days of receipt.

    To receive a refund or exchange, goods must be returned unused, in their original packaging and with all original documentation.

    Our Story

    When my son was born with autism, my world changed and Sensory Direct was born

    Ethan had been prescribed different forms of medication, and although they helped a little, I didn’t want to become reliant upon them, so Ethan’s Paediatric Consultant suggested a Weighted Blanket. I remember hearing this and thinking ‘what on earth is a Weighted Blanket’? At this stage I was blissfully unaware of how life changing that Weighted Blanket would become.
