Gross Motor Play

We have a number of quality toys, games & equipment for the development of Gross Motor skills, particularly suitable for those with additional needs and conditions such as autism.

The development of gross motor skills (large muscle groups) is an important development path for all children of all ages. Gross motor play develops skills that are essential for everyday life such as walking, running, skipping and other essential things like balance and coordination. Children with additional needs and conditions such as autism often have poor gross motor skills and lack coordination and balance. Practising these skills through play can facilitate physical development and provide children with the abilities they need to explore and interact with the world around them.

Products such as our balance pods allow children to practice balance whilst our scooter boards are ideal for upper extremity strengthening, movement, motor planning and vestibular activities.

Our selection of gross motor toys and resources are great fun and kids will love play time involving them; allowing you to work on developing their skills. By repeating gross motor activities children can develop and improve muscle tone and continue to develop both physically and emotionally.

Improved gross motor skills can also help to calm, particularly from sensory seeking kids and can improve social skills and emotional development.
