Outdoor play offers many benefits for the whole family. Fresh air and exercise supports physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. It also offers much needed time away from screens. With warmer days ahead, we've collated our favourite outdoor products for the whole family.

Rainbow Glitter Numbers and Letters

Made from 3mm acrylic these rainbow glitter numbers and letters look fantastic outside in the sun. Use to encourage letter and number recognition or string up outside to create fascinating colour glitter shadows. Play together to see what letters you can spell, or mix the numbers together to create different coloured shadows. Can also be used inside on a light panel on rainy days. Body Socks

Body socks are a must-have therapy resource that's transportable and durable. Particularly effective for children who have lots of energy, but equally fun for chilling and calming down. Available in 3 sizes and 3 colours, there are so many ways you can use them. Here are some of our favourite ways to play;

  • Stretch out like a starfish, or tall like a rocket
  • Complete a (safe!) obstacle course. Crawling under and climbing over things can be particularly fun in a body sock!
  • Having a sausage rolling race
  • Play charades – pretend to be different animals, or letters, or objects, and see if others can guess what you are!
  • You could even use it on a trampoline if you're able to
  • Synchronised dancing to music - get the family involved!
  • Try balancing on one foot whilst you feel the resistance of the sock around you

Air Board Balance Trainer

These large inflatable balance trainers are ideal for strengthening muscles in the stomach, ankles, legs and upper body.  They can also help develop balance, coordination and gross motor skills.

Take the board outside and try sitting, standing or lying on it. The large diameter makes it easy to control rotation, offering excellent balance training. See who can stand on one leg for the longest, or try catching a ball whilst keeping your balance. Older teens or adults could try using the balance trainer for push ups and abdominal exercises. You could even line up some buckets on the floor and try throwing small beanbags into them whilst standing on the balance trainer.

  • See who can balance the longest without touching the ground
  • Pass a ball back and forth whilst maintaining balance
  • Play 'simon says' whilst balancing. Whoever stays balanced the longest wins!
  • Musical balance - move and balance to music
  • Freeze balance -rock from side to side and then stop and balance when someone shouts 'freeze'
